Altrucoin

Altrucoin's platform had outgrown its build: aging code underneath and pages that made crypto discovery harder than it needed to be. Over a one-month engagement, I redesigned the core comparison and creation flows, established a scalable design system, and mentored a founding team member to carry UX forward independently.

Company: Altrucoin
Role: UX/UI Design Contractor & Mentor
Team: 2 Founding Members
Duration: 1 month

The Problem

The existing UI had hierarchy issues that made it hard to compare options and navigate core flows - and no design foundation for the team to build on.

The Approach

Working from stakeholder insights, I developed a persona around Altrucoin's target user: someone curious about crypto but not yet confident with complex financial interfaces. Two needs shaped the design:

  1. Comparing options quickly

  2. Creating vaults without confusion

The original desktop vault list used cards, which made side-by-side comparison difficult and buried key information. I redesigned it as a table, surfacing the metrics users needed to make decisions at a glance.

The trickiest problem was the mobile design. A table dense enough for desktop would overwhelm smaller screens, so I reintroduced the card layout - but with consistent, prioritized data points rather than the unstructured original design.

The original card layout disrupted natural scanning, making it harder to compare metrics at a glance

Translating the table format to mobile created a scrolling nightmare

Final Designs

These designs prioritize accessibility, making it easy for users to compare options and create tokens without feeling overwhelmed.

Vault list - Table format replaced cards, so metrics compare at a glance

Vault creation - Sectioned into chunks with example text, reviewable before submitting

Mobile vault list - Cards return with prioritized data rather than the original's flat hierarchy

Mobile vault creation - Maintains clarity while optimizing for smaller screens.

An interactive prototype demonstrates how core actions perform in real workflows.

A foundational design system unifies visual language and supports future scalability.

Impact & Takeaways

The redesign brought coherence to Altrucoin's core flows and established a visual foundation that the team could scale. The bigger unlock was the mentoring - by the time my contract ended, the team had the vocabulary and frameworks to continue iterating on UX independently.
