Tl;dr:
Altrucoin is a decentralized platform that enables users to discover, trade, and create cryptocurrencies. I redesigned core flows for comparing and creating cryptocurrencies and established a foundational UX structure for future platform development. In one month, I improved the information hierarchy and helped define early design principles that informed the platform’s next phase.
About Altrucoin
Altrucoin allows crypto enthusiasts to explore, invest in, and build their own cryptocurrencies. The platform combines elements of discovery, trading, and creation, aiming to make the crypto ecosystem more transparent and approachable for both newcomers and experienced users.
Background
As a UX designer brought on for a short-term engagement, my goal was to redesign several key pages that users found confusing or redundant. I collaborated closely with the founding team to clarify objectives, understand pain points, and rapidly prototype interface concepts while laying the groundwork for a user-centered product design strategy.
Understanding the User
While no formal research was conducted, the following proxy persona was developed based on stakeholder insights and assumptions about early adopters
Exploring Designs
Given the project’s short timeline, I moved directly into rapid concept exploration, creating low-fidelity wireframes to reimagine the Vault List and Create Vault pages across desktop and mobile. Key goals included simplifying navigation, clarifying terminology, and establishing reusable layouts that could scale as the platform evolved.
Finalizing the Designs
The final layouts simplified decision-making, aligned visual hierarchy across platforms, and established a foundation for a unified design system.
The vault list interface presents key cryptocurrency metrics with clear hierarchy for easier comparison.
The creation flow presents a structured form that simplifies the process of launching a new token.
The mobile vault list provides a compact, optimized layout for reviewing assets across devices.
The mobile creation view adapts the token setup process for seamless use on smaller screens.
A mobile prototype demonstrates how the experience performs in a real-world workflow.
The design system establishes a visual foundation that supports future scalability.
Impact & Takeaways
This collaboration was an exchange of expertise and perspective: I introduced user-centered principles and redesigned key flows while gaining insight into the realities of designing within the fast-paced constraints of an early-stage startup. The process strengthened both the platform’s usability and my ability to drive impact efficiently.
